Co-parenting is not a competition between two homes.
It's a collaboration of parents doing what is best for the kids. Heather Hetchler
50% of marriages end in a divorce;
85% of divorces involve children under the age of 18.
Husband and wife can dissolve their marriage. They can’t dissolve their role as a parent. As you move through your divorce, you will need to understand your role as a co-parent.
Parenting is the most important job we will ever have, and yet we get very little, if any, training to prepare us. Discovery Counseling co-parenting program offers you an opportunity to discuss practical, realistic approaches to the challenges of co-parenting.
We understand that you never thought you would be divorced or separated. The hurt you feel is real and terrible. However, now you must find a way to set that hurt and distrust aside and learn to work with your child's other parent.
Some days it may be easy, other days it may be very hard. However, you know it must be done for the sake of your children. We understand how frustrating this time in your life can be. We are here to help you. Working as a team, we assist both of the parents in designing a mutually workable plan. In our co-parenting classes, we will support you in moving the spotlight from hurt and anger to building a more cooperative parenting style.
As parents, you only want what is best for your child. We are here to support you with sorting out visitation, co-parenting plans, coping with feelings, child support issues, and finding your new normal.
Co-parenting sessions should include both parents. However, if your circumstances allow only one parent to attend, progress and change can still happen.
We offer one-on-one parenting courses that include 8 sessions. These sessions are highly specialized to meet your individual needs. They are designed to focus specifically on your child and family. The goal is to facilitate with you and the other parent to develop the best possible outcomes. Parenting plans can be completed during these meetings.
The meetings are pre-scheduled in 1-hour blocks.
There may be times when the meetings are divided into separate sessions for each parent.
